I started at the lab at 8AM this morning and finished......at 2PM. I feel so exhausted; maybe becuase I went, directly after, to play badminton with Shara and her sister.

I did enjoy myself this morning. The lab is getting more and more interesting. Rosh and I are looking at a particular type of cell that could cue the differentiation of adult stem cells into neurons. If it works out, then (far in the future) it could potentially help alleviate a wide range of spinal cord injuries. I never expected science to move so painstakingly slow, though. It takes hours and hours to set up an experiment, run it, and examine the results through a microscope. Whenever scientists give presentations, they flip through their slides so rapidly--the data comes at you so fast, that you never really appreciate the hours of labour behind it.

As long as I'm complaining about workload I have to say that this semester is a great deal more hectic than last. I'm not only taking more credits, but I also work minimum 12 hours a week at the lab and another 4 at the hospital. Unusually, I still feel like I'm working less in high school.

I need to go do a chemistry problem set.

PS The campus is really alive today. The weather suddenly improved and now a fraternity is getting drunk in the middle of Old Campus.
