The tour guide information meeting was tonight. It felt like applying to Yale all over again....

What seemed like the entire freshman class of Yale crowded a small room in LC. People were eyeing each other, speculating who would get in and who wouldn't. The current tour guides were standing at the front telling anecdotes and explaining how wonderful their job was. Everyone in the audience was envying the tour guides up there--both for getting the job and not having to apply for it anymore.

Something like 200 people apply and only 15 get in. And all of those 200 people are students at Yale.

I wonder, sometimes, if people here are attracted by more than just a well-paying and fun job. I think Yale students are born to apply for things.
