I find "Shopping Period" at Yale the saddest time of the year. Because all the shopping I do is through the window....
Ok, a little rewind: Yale lets you take the first two weeks to test drive courses and pick the ones you like best. Some people visit as many as 20 different classes to get a taste for the ones they like.
But there's no use talking about it because I never get to do it. Since I'm a biomedical engineering major and a pre-med, my course schedule is pretty much set in stone until the end of sophmore year. Yale's awkward distributional requirements exacerbate the problem.
I really envy the freedom of others to visit classes as they please and make lists and weed out the bad professors. I sometimes feel like my education isn't really even liberal arts. I think it would be nice to take a completely arbitrary course on a subject I'm only mildly interested in.
Gah.

I had my first day at the Lavik Lab today. It was so much fun.....
Further details some other time.
